Preparations are in top gear at the Federal Cooperative College (FCC), Eleyele, Ibadan, as the institution prepares to welcome the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, CON (Baraden Borgu), for the Renewed Hope Cooperative Reform Workshop scheduled for April 29th and 30th, 2025.

The two-day event, organized by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) in collaboration with FCC Ibadan, is part of efforts to drive the objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in revitalizing the cooperative sub-sector, which plays a crucial role in grassroots economic empowerment and national development.

According to sources within the College, the Honourable Minister's visit is highly anticipated, as it underscores the federal government's commitment to strengthening cooperative societies as instruments of sustainable economic growth.

Participants expected at the workshop include trustees, management committees, and managers of cooperative societies, mainly from the South-West region. Sessions will focus on capacity building, leadership development, promotion of best practices, and strategic repositioning of cooperatives to meet contemporary challenges.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Provost of FCC Ibadan, Dr. Ibrahim Abdulganiyu, expressed his delight at the impending visit, describing it as a "milestone opportunity to reaffirm the College's leadership role in cooperative education and grassroots development." Dr. Abdulganiyu is expected to deliver the welcome address at the opening ceremony, setting the tone for two days of intensive engagement and dialogue.

The College authorities have called on all relevant stakeholders to complete their registration early to ensure smooth participation. Organizers say the workshop promises to be a landmark gathering aimed at renewing, reforming, and repositioning the cooperative movement for greater national impact.
